Frequently Asked Question

All classes are held at our school located on 213 West 14th Street, unless otherwise noted. We do hold off-site programs on occasion, including our travel programs.

FlowerSchool NY offers a variety of courses depending on your interests and amount of time you would like to dedicate to floral design. Students often begin with a Beginner’s Open Studio to “dip their toe” in the world of design or a Master Class to learn style and trend from some of New York’s most popular florists.

If looking for a longer course, our most popular series is the Intensive Series, which combines the Introductory and Intermediate classes in one full week. Here students learn the FlowerSchool New York Method of Design, which includes how to correctly handle and care for flowers, use tools such as a floral knife and clippers and to condition flowers for optimal vase-life. You will also learn how to create ten different high-end designs that highlight each flower’s most beautiful and unique characteristics from gift arrangements, hand-tied bouquets, centerpieces designs and much more. This series also includes a buying trip to the wholesale flower market on 28th Street. Here in this class students learn where flowers come from, how to purchase flowers and speak with wholesalers. The total cost for this class is $2,600 and is one full week; you are welcome review our upcoming dates for this course HERE.  This is where most people begin taking classes at the school. Following the Intensive Series, many students move onto more series such as the three day Advanced Design Series or the Advanced Wedding Series .

Yes, all flowers, tools, vases, and hand guide and included in the cost of the class.

Yes! Students definitely get to take your flowers home after your class. FlowerSchool New York will box and bag your arrangements for easy transfer home.

Of course! All our classes, from the Beginner’s Open Studio to the advanced level, students will complete a design for each class to take home and enjoy. Working hands-on is one of the best ways to learn!

No, the Master Classes are intended for students of all levels. Less about specific techniques, these classes are intended to learn the best and most exciting trends and designs from some of the world’s top Master Designers. Like taking a class with a master chef, these classes are more inspirational and style focused than technical.

Yes! The Floral Design Program starts at the very beginning of floral design assuming no prior knowledge. All you need is a passion for flowers and a desire to learn!

Depending on how much time you are interested in dedicating, I would suggest taking either our two-day Introductory Series or our one week Intensive Series, which combines the Intro and Intermediate classes in one week.

In the two-day Introductory Series students learn the FlowerSchool New York Method of Design which includes how to correctly handle and care for flowers, use tools such as a floral knife and clippers and to condition flowers for optimal vase-life. You will also learn how to create four different high-end designs that highlight each flower’s most beautiful and unique characteristics from gift arrangements, hand-tied bouquets, centerpieces designs and much more. The total cost for this course is $1,100 and is two days; you are welcome review our upcoming dates for this course HERE.

However, if you are interested in taking a longer series, I would suggest the Intensive Series which combines the Introductory classes (which are listed above) and the Intermediate classes in one week. Again students learn the FlowerSchool New York Method of Design as well as the best practices of the industry. However, here you learn 10 different designs style and take a buying trip to the New York Flower Market on Wednesday. To review all the upcoming dates, please visit the website HERE.
